Hair
transplant is an outpatient procedure done under local
anaesthesia and does not require hospital stay. After
proper selection, a suitable hair line is first marked
considering the aesthetic and facial dimensions. Then
a strip of hair is harvested from the back of the head
and from this micrografts and minigrafts are made using
magnification. Micrografts (which are single and two
hair grafts) are used to form the hairline. This is
actually a zone about 1 cm wide and comprises of thin
hair. In this zone the single and 2 hair grafts are
delicately introduced into the microslits using magnification.
The entire procedure could be completed with micrografts
or beyond this, minigrafts (about 1.5 mm - 2 mm diameter)
could be placed. These minigrafts will grow 3 -5 hairs
each and add to the density. Micro with minigrafts produce
a more natural look. In contrast the old-fashioned plug
method gives an unnatural 'DOLLS HEAD' look.
