Thick or fat lips are
reduced in size by removing a strip of the red part
of the lip along with the underlying tissue from one
end to the other end. This surgery is done under local
anaesthesia without any hospital stay and both the lips
can be reduced at the same time. This procedure can
also be combined with other facial surgeries.

Lip Augmentation
A variety of materials are available for enlargement
of the lips to achieve a fuller, more youthful look.
Injectable material include transplanted fat, collagen,
and Fascian. Implants made of Gortex and Alloderm can
also be inserted. Each material has some limitations.
Injected fat, collagen, and Fascian tend to resorb in
several months. Alloderm, is now used for lip augmentation,
as well as augmentation of other areas of the face such
as deep folds between the nose and mouth. It tends to
feel soft and natural, but the implanted material reabsorbs
by at least 50 percent with time, thus resulting in
decreased volume.
Collagen Softform (Gortex) implant as long as the patient
is willing to accept some of the potential inherent
problems of this implant.
