Dr. K. Ramachandran
President of Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Dr. K. Ramachandran ia a Senior Cosmetic Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai who has been practicing cosmetic surgery for the past twenty five years. Since completion of his basic training in plastic surgery, due to his passion for this specialized branch of plastic surgery he dedicated his career to “Aesthetic Surgery”. He aims to practice Aesthetic Surgery in Par with international Standards in India.
He was born in Trichy, South India in 1955. He finished his undergraduate course in medicine and went for M.S in the year 1978, at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. He completed his M.Ch. in Kilpauk Medical College, Madras in 1984. His perseverance to bring cosmetic surgery of International standards to India took him across the globe. He obtained Fellowships in Cosmetic Surgery from “ Plastic Surgery Associates, Miami, USA” “ Assistance Publique Paris, France” , “ Krankenanstalten “, “ Der Stadt”, “ Koln and Munich, Germany”. He further trained under Doctor Illouz in Body Contouring Surgery at Paris and Dr. SP. Arumugam, MD. AB, in USA and India.
PAPERS & PUBLICATIONS:
- Presented many papers in national and international conferences.
- Many publications including 2 chapters in a book entitled “Handbook on Burn Management”.
AWARDS:
- Recipient of the Sundaram Award for the best paper presentation at the conference of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India held in November 1984.
- Recieved Kilner Award for 1987 by the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India.
- International Travelling Fellowship For The Year 1988 – awarded by the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India.
- Recipient of the “Ethicon Travelling Professorship in Cosmetic Surgery” – 1998.
