Heavy, pendulous breasts can bestow a lifetime of problems
for the "well-endowed" - limiting sports activities,
and causing significant back pain and spine problems,
and even emotional issues. For many large-breasted women,
their double D cups are, in fact, a bodily burden.
Fortunately there is an alternative to avoid those problems
through breast reduction surgery.
In the traditional breast reduction surgery, called
mammaplasty, the surgeon makes a large T-shaped incision
to remove excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin. In
some situations it may be possible to restrict the scars
to a keyhole pattern. The procedure is done under General
anaesthesia and may take about 4 hours. One will be
required to stay a day in the hospital. Following the
operation the sutures will be removed in stages in about
10 days time. It will usually take about 6-8 weeks for
the oedema to subside and the final results to be seen.
